The Portsmouth Distillery Co
The Portsmouth Distillery Co. is a premium artisan spirit producer. We were established in 2018 and have our home in the fabulous eighteenth-century Bastion of Fort Cumberland. Located on Eastney Point on the southeastern tip of Portsea Island – surrounded by the Sea and Centuries of naval history.
Our distillery is within the eighteenth-century Fort Cumberland, an Historic England property. We’re playing our part in the revival of the site by refurbishing 7 casements and an ancient powder casement that once stored Naval weaponry, winning The Portsmouth Society award for “Best Re-use of an Historic building-2019”.

Ellers Farm
Their journey starts with their founder. A passion for distilling, access to an orchard and a love of our planet spurred him to build a distillery on the farm. His vision is our vision: making the world's best spirits in the most sustainable way. It takes its name from the dutch barn on the farm where the distillery is based. Not only is the vodka distilled from British apples blended with a small proportion of potato spirit, but the distillery is carbon neutral. The bottle is made from 60% recycled glass. They also do a great Expresso Vodka.

Blue Bottle
Created by Master Distiller Matt Poli at Three fingers distillery, who drew his inspiration for the bottle designs from a college science project where he had to study flies and once under the microscope saw the intricate and vivid colours of the Blue Bottle fly, which is why it is found on the front of the striking blue bottle.

Pinkster Gin
The Pinkster Story, or not the usual ingredients;
A kitchen table
A frustrated accountant
A fruit bowl
A bottle of Gin
Perhaps more the ingredients for a game of Cluedo, but that’s how the business was born.
It all came about when founder Stephen realised wine and beer no longer agreed with him. A keen forager and maker of sloe liqueurs and other concoctions, he turned his attention to gin and started experimenting at home, mashing assorted fruits with different spirit strengths. He wasn’t intentionally creating a pink drink, it’s just that after working his way through an entire fruit bowl, raspberry delivered the best flavour.
Over the intervening years, thirst for Pinkster has grown and from humble beginnings we’re now proud to be stocked by several thousand bars, hotels and restaurants the length and breadth of the UK, together with dozens of farm shops and food halls. Stephen still personally oversees the production, ensuring consistency from batch to batch of fresh fruit.

Reverend Hubert
The Reverend Hubert Bell Lester (1868 -1929) was a charming and caring man who also enjoyed a good party. He created his winter liqueur recipe in 1904 for the joyful Christmas gathering of his army colleagues and congregation. Over the years, the original recipe was fine-tuned according to wherever in the world he was stationed. Today, Thomas Lester, the Reverend’s great-grandson, has updated the original formula, recreating it entirely by hand. The result is a balanced, warming, smooth gin liqueur bursting with aromatic notes of dried fruit, winter spices and the freshest organic orange and lemon zest from Amalfi. Hand-crafted on the edge of the Cotswolds in small batches all with natural ingredients.

And Union
Our story is one of friendship and refusing to accept the norm. We are three friends who grew up in South Africa, at the time a conservative nationalist state. The beer available was unimaginative and one-dimensional. There was better beer out there. We knew that something made with love, care and integrity, steeped in tradition and learned expertise could rock someone’s world.

Castle Rock
When Chris Holmes opened the Old King’s Arms in Newark, it was an act of defiance against an industry dominated by monopolistic brewers. It was niche, believe it or not, to focus on real ale in homely surroundings. The brewery opened twenty years later and, in 2010, we were catapulted into the spotlight when Harvest Pale was crowned Supreme Champion Beer of Britain. We now have over twenty pubs in the Castle Rock extended family, brew a huge variety of skilfully crafted beers, and work hard to have a positive impact on the world around us. Running great pubs and brewing great beer is still our humble life’s mission.
